Celebrating the Employers Forum for Reducing Reoffending

Last night was the annual celebration of the Employers Forum for Reducing Reoffending (EFFRR).

EFFRR is a group of local and national employers that provide job opportunities to people in prison and people with convictions in the community. Some of the employers in the group are featured on this site and the forum has a track-record of being an effective way of engaging businesses, as well as being there to provide business-to-business support to those involved.

Supported by Timpsons and Greggs, and set amongst the amazing art work by people in prison (brought together by the Koestler Trust at the Southbank Centre), the event heard from the new chair of the forum, Roisin Currie, Group People Director at Greggs. Talking about the vital role that businesses can play, the message from Roisin to the new employers in the room was clear – if you’re thinking about supporting the agenda in some way, get involved in EFFRR as a first step.

As always with these events, the most inspiring part of the evening was hearing from two people that spoke about their own personal experiences of leaving prison, and critically talking about the support they’d received from the organisation Key4Life to help them in that transition on release.

Events like this are really important in recognising the important role that employers play, both celebrating those with success stories and encouraging new employers to get involved.
