Best practice guidance for insurers
In January 2016, Unlock published a briefing for insurers. This was, in part, to go alongside a workshop that Unlock ran for members of the Association of British Insurers.
The Association of British Insurers (ABI) published updated good practice in July 2019.
The guide, first published in 2011 and revised in 2014, was updated in 2019 to reflect recommendations made by Unlock in response to research we published in 2017. You can read our news post about the updated guidance here.
Use of enforced subject access requests
In September 2015, the ABI published guidance on (not) using enforced subject access requests to find out about criminal records.
There is more information about enforced subject access requests in our briefing for insurers and on our main website.
